Vision Statement
By 2027, AUS-Procurement [U] will be the premier training center focused exclusively on Veterans Affairs, Acquisition Utilization, and Procurement Support, setting the standard for excellence in education and professional development.


Mission Statement
At AUS-Procurement [U], our mission is to ignite a passion for learning and discovery through transformative education in a supportive and inclusive environment. We empower clients to become knowledgeable resources, collaborative partners, and invaluable assets to the mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs and its Medical Centers.

PRIORITY AREAS

Priority 1:

Goals:


Achieve intentional high-quality strategic enrollment to establish AUS-Procurement [U]as the destination of choice for talented, knowledgeable, and certified acquisition support staff for the Department of Veterans Affairs.


Elevate academic excellence through experimental learning and application engagement to ensure students are prepared for career success, possess adaptable skills and will make meaningful contributions to their respective carelines. 

 

 Key Initiatives to Achieve Goals


  • Implement an integrated enrollment management strategy that engages clients and regional VA Medical Centers to achieve enrollment targets to fuel a talent pipeline that meets Department of Veterans Affairs workforce demands.
  • Establish initiatives to ensure that all students have access to coordinated and scaled high-impact practices (e.g., practical applications ,procurement development, buying skills, legal research/ legal writing, case law research negotiations skills, to strengthen their academic experience.

 

  • Launch centralized initiatives in partnership with academic divisions, alumni, industries and community partners to diversify career advancement programs leading to successful job placement and professional growth.

Priority 2

Inspire Relevant Research and Impactful Innovation Goals:


Expand impactful and relevant research, scholarship and creative activity (RSCA) to position AUS-Procurement [U] as the hub for acquisition support, certification, training and staffing needs. 


Key Initiatives to Achieve Goals


  • Implement campus-wide flexible workload guidelines to maximize faculty contributions.
  • Launch a cluster-hiring initiative to recruit new faculty who can significantly contribute towards our mission and Areas of Strategic Focus.
  • Institute a multi-year initiative to invest new resources in infrastructure needed to enhance our capacities in Areas of Strategic Focus.

 

  • Establish infrastructure and resources dedicated to assisting faculty and students in creating, protecting and licensing innovative new technologies, methods and approaches.

Priority 3

Expand Mutually Beneficial Partnerships with the with the VA Medical Centers


Goals:

Strengthen existing community partnerships, and build new ones, to boost economic, social and cultural development, to support  the VA Medical Center.


Key Initiatives to Achieve Goals

  • Establish an career engagement  unit that serves as a point of contact for companies, agencies and other institutions interested in engaging  with the VA Medical Centers for their workforce needs.
  • Develop new programs  that enhance the AUS-Procurement [U] role in fulfilling the lifelong educational and professional development needs of the VA Medical Centers community.

Priority 4

Accelerate the Success of Faculty and Staff


Goals:

Recruit and retain the top talent for all VA Medical Centers procurement support employee positions.  Foster high levels of job satisfaction among all VA Medical Centers procurement support employees.  Diversify and grow revenues to support VA Medical Centers procurement support strategic growth goals while maintaining employee job satisfaction.

Key Initiatives to Achieve Goals


  • Develop a comprehensive multi-year plan to address issues in market equity, compression and inversion across all employee categories while also rewarding meritorious performance.


  • Create professional development pathways for faculty and staff across all employee categories.
  • Develop new initiatives to foster a culture of care that promotes empathy and respect for all employees and enhances employee health and well-being.
